Romantic Comedies in Bollywood have been gaining a lot of momentum now-a-days and they usually capture the young audience as they tend to relate with it. Same goes for Punit Malhotra’s latest Kareena Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor and Imran Khan starrer Gori Tere Pyaar Mein.
The pair of Kareena and Imran was first seen in Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu and their chemistry was appreciated. But this movie was slightly different than their previous flick.
Kareena Kapoor (Dia)
plays the role of an NGO type, who’s all into helping people who are
poor and helpless and that same reason brings her to a small village in
Gujarat where people need help more than ever. Imran Khan (Sriram
Venkat) who’s an architect comes back to India from the States in search
for his ex-love Dia. He finds out the whereabouts of his ex-love and
lands up in the same small village.
Sriram now feels that the only way to bridge the gap between Dia
and himself is to build a bridge in the village. But as expected there
has to be some rukawat and here it’s the corrupt collector
who’s in the way of Sriram. Now a lot of twists and turns take place
and here’s when the story gets interesting. A bit. Not much. This also
marks the entrance of Shraddha Kapoor who’s all set to marry Imran Khan
but is already in love with a Punjabi boy. And this delivers another
twist which felt unwanted.
Esha Gupta also has a small part in the film and she does fine and
it looks like she’s got a bright future for her in Bollywood. Imran Khan
acts very well to put you all to sleep. Actually, he doesn’t act, he
just exists on the screen being the normal guy. But again, maybe that
was the precise role he was given.
Kareena Kapoor seems like the perfect Bollywood actress who can
make any normal role iconic but she fell a little short on this one.
Maybe the makers wanted to create another Geet of Jab We Met but the character didn’t have much scope.
